Feeding a Turtle

There is something about having pets that keep the human soul and mind at ease.  There’s something about having a companion that allows even the tiniest of smiles to creep on to our faces.  But getting a pet doesn’t mean you have to get a dog or a cat.  Pets come in different shapes and sizes, different species, and are from different habitats.  If you go to http://www.turtlecareguide.net, you will find some very useful information on one of the smallest (or largest.  It depends on what kind of breed you get) pets that you could ever own.  The turtle.

Owning a turtle is not that hard.  In fact, it can be very rewarding especially when you see that your teeny tiny turtle is growing big and strong.  It takes a while for turtles to mature and it takes even longer to notice any change in them.  In order for them to grow big and strong, they should have a proper and healthy diet.

One of the most important things to remember when owning a turtle, as cited in http://www.turtlecareguide.net, is that they should always be fed on water.  But this is only applicable to water turtles.

Land turtles are a different story.  When turtles are young, they enjoy eating meats such as chicken, turkey and tuna.  As their growth progresses, they will eventually prefer to eat fruits and vegetables.  The good thing about turtles is that once they grow older, you won’t have the task of feeding them everyday as you did when they are still young.  Turtles can eat every other day once they mature; even in the wild, they prefer not to eat everyday.
