How to take care of a Box Turtle

People in the city are always on the go. It’s the sad side of the city life.  There are times when the city life can get lonely too, which is one reason why people get pets.  But the problem is that most people don’t have the time (and at times refuse to put in too much effort) on caring for their pets.  So what is the perfect pet for these folks?  A turtle, a sweet loveable turtle, that does not take up most of a person’s time.  Looking to adopt a turtle to brighten up your home?  You can check out http://www.turtlecareguide.net for websites that offer turtle adoption.

For those who live in the city and do not have backyards or front yards, the most appropriate specie of turtle that should be kept is a box turtle.  Box turtles can be kept in a wooden or plastic box.  But these containers should be at least 2×3x1 ½ feet high.  Box turtles are excellent climbers so you must make sure that you make the walls of your reptile’s home tall enough to keep it in.

We don’t want any accidents after all.  As you will read in http://www.turtlecareguide.net, Box turtles should not be kept in aquariums because this blocks out the ventilation of air around it which causes a greenhouse effect.  Your turtle may die from this so it is better to keep it in an open space or area where it can get proper sunlight and fresh air.  Always remember that turtles like to swim but even if this may be fact, box turtles are not the best swimmers in the world.  So a nice small water dish may be use for their wading time.  But turtles sometimes drink out of the same dish as well so it is best to remember to change the water on a daily basis.  For more information on the housing of box turtles, http://www.turtlecareguide.net proves to be a very useful resource in this particular topic.
